A Lifetime of Memories

August 18 2019. August 22 2019

Dear Captain Bob

By far the best Trawler School ever!!! We came to learn and the knowledge you provided was priceless. We enjoyed the 3 days 4 nights onboard The Miami Mermaid, we also appreciate your patience teaching us all about trawlers.

Captain Bob you are a great chef, the food you made was so delicious and healthy, we are looking forward to using your Japanese panko coating on our fish (grouper) at home,Yummy.

Tracy most favorite part was our graduation ceremony, you held nothing back. What great lifetime memories.

As for Joel he appreciated your insight on purchasing a trawler, from negotiating to contracts & survey’s… the info you provided was exactly what we were looking for.

Happy Trawlering.

I Had NO Idea What Pete Signed Us Up For

2-27-2017.            3-3-2017

Captain Bob,

I had no idea what Pete signed me up for. I guess with low expectations comes “GREAT” rewards.

Captain Bob has a gift of teaching, cooking, and entertaining. We learned so much, too much to list. Ate delicious food, and all the anchorage stops and scenery was just beautiful. My favorite? Sitting on the back of the Mermaid’s swim platform with Pete and our feet in the water was just heaven to us both. We don’t want to leave, but all good things must come to an end.

Thank you for everything.

Trawler Reality Check

2-12-2017.               2-16-2017

To Captain Bob

Like many of your clients, we had  expectations of learning and building confidence and working together as a team. Your teaching helped us achieve just that, what we didn’t expect was a trawler reality check. We will now take our time and explore our options on finding and buying the right trawler, what great advice and thank you. Oh and the many jokes before class we are taking away for our grandchildren.

We loved the new game we all played one night U tunies on Utube what an extra surprise and very fun we’ll be playing  that at home with our friends.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and stories. Safe journeys my friend.
Cheers

No Fear!

1-29-2017.             2-2-2017

Captain Bob,

What a great time! We learned a lot, from flybridge to master stateroom & from bow to stern. Docking, you made you lessons so easy for us we can now dock a 40′ single engine trawler without any fear.

Rules of the road, diesel engine class was a blast, air, water and fuel. Electrial, 110vt/12vt shore power, generator, inverter and alternators 50amp & your special 150amp for charging all you house batteries.

I listened and I learned.

Captains Bob’s cooking is very healthy and delicious. Participating in the 14th annal Groundhog Day 6:00am celebrating with over a 100 people on Hollywood beach. People were dressed in tuxedos, top hats, and there was a big dressed up groundhog. We all took a dip in the ocean after the event, what a big plus to our wonderful trip we will never forget the sunsets and all the fantastic anchorages.

Well done Captain Bob

We Want to Live on a Trawler

3-20-16       3-24-16

Captain Bob,

We want to live on a trawler – but what baby boomer doesn’t? We were looking to get some hands on training and searched the Internet, Captain Bob’s trawler school came up everywhere and he’s been teaching for over 10 years, he has the best informative site … so we decided to attend his school.

I (Beau) was nervous and now I can read a chart, use a chart plotter, plot a course, navigate and dock a single engine 40′ trawler, just to name a few things our patient and smart teacher Captain Bob taught us.

We will now be on our quest on finding a trawler now that we are armed with knowledge.
I (Tim) also learned a lot about trawlers and a real hands on training course. Ate very well, we shared stories and music, we had more fun than we had in a long time. We picked the right trawler school.

Thanks Captain Bob

Trawler Handling & Cruising Lifestyle 101

2-8 — 2-12- 2016

Captain Bob,
We came aboard hoping to learn if we could handle a life aboard a trawler, both the handling of the trawler itself and the lifestyle . We learned a great deal about how to do both. We appreciate your patience and amusing teaching style along with your willingness to share your many years selling 100’s of trawlers experience on buying and owning one.  Keep up the bad fish jokes ha ha. We have a great time and the food was excellent.

Great Balance of Instruction & Enjoyment

2-18 — 2-22- 2016

Dear Captain Bob,

What a great trawler adventure! We came to you to experience the trawler lifestyle. Honestly, I think Rick just wanted to be sure I could handle life on the water. We both came away with a more expansive knowledge of how to proceed with our dream of owning a trawler, with a better sense of confidence in operating any boat.

The trip you provided gives a great balance of instruction and enjoyment allowing us time to learn and also to experience hidden hideaways (anchorage) that would never have found on our own.

We feel honored to have spent your 61st birthday cruising with you even though you cooked a wonderful meal for us. We leave this fish joke with you.

Thanks for everything!

Boating Novice Docks Boat Blindfolded

3-1–3-5-16

Great experience Captain Bob!
Bob was able to explain all the subjects in plain English and made it very easy to understand. Like his advertisement reads “let’s keep it simple” and that he did. I learned a new respect for handling the Miami Mermaid and boating in general. I would highly recommend this Trawler school. When we started off I had no clue on boating. This experience has given me the confidence running and buying a trawler.

The Captain showed me so much in just a few days, and he sure kept it simple. Being a total novice I returned at dock much more confident. It was lots of fun and bonded with my old friend Mark. We went to some wonderful spots. I ended up docking his 40′ single trawler blindfolded! I feel like I can dock any boat after that lesson. I highly recommend Captain’s Bob’s Trawler school. Check it out it’s worth the trip, cruising Miami and the Fl Keys. I like his all-inclusive school, no hidden cost.

Where do We Begin?

Captain Bob                                         2 — 23  —  2 — 27 — 2015

Where do we begin? Coming from  -7 degree’s in Chicago to Southern Florida to attend your Trawler school has been more rewarding than we could ever have imagined. From the moment we stepped aboard the Miami Mermaid we have learned not only how to navigate but everything we need to know about handling a trawler. Safety, “woman over board and saving” Wilma (Blow up doll), that was fun!

What type of trawler to look for, advice on whether to buy or charter at this point in our lives (still working) and the wonderful community of boaters out there and why it is such a big draw for so many.

You have been an exceptional host, and now a friend. I hope someday to find you out there cruising the around the intracoastal on our own trawler, once we retire. We will have a toast to all your help and guidance.

This has been one of our fondest experiences on the water. Thank you so very much. We will miss Wilma.
